Have you ever wondered who your ancestors were?
Many people today are seeking out their past history and who their ancestors were, they want to find out where they came from, from whom were they descended, do they have any royal connections, what were their origins, were their ancestors good or bad people.
The Book of the Bible has many of these answers. It tells us that in the beginning God created the first man, Adam and because Adam was lonely God also made a woman, Eve, to be his wife, the mother of all living. God placed them in a beautiful garden with the animals which He had also created. God gave them a simple command, ‘not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,’ the punishment for eating of this fruit would be death. We read of this in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 2 v18.
Sadly, Adam and Eve did eat of the fruit of the tree of which God had told them not to eat. In doing so they disobeyed the law of God and so they brought death upon themselves. Consequently, because we are all descended from Adam and Eve we die too.
So, our ancestor is Adam, he sinned and died, and all mankind has followed Adam in sinning themselves, therefore we are all captive to this destroying cycle of sin and death.
Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12 KJV
However, the good news is that God is merciful and not willing that any should perish. God is loving, kind.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 KJV
God has provided a way whereby we can have our sins forgiven if we acknowledge and confess our sins. Jesus is ‘The Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world’. John 1:29

This undeserving favour, that is the grace of God has been offered to all who will believe the gospel, who will confess their sins through the Lord Jesus Christ will have their sins forgiven by him and seek to follow God commands.
The Lord Jesus Christ was raised from death to die no more. Unlike all of us, he had committed no sin. The result was that the grave could not hold Him. That is to say, it would have been unjust for Jesus to have the wages of sin because he hadn’t sinned, so God raised him from the dead after three days.
We too can have the hope of resurrection, deliverance from sin and death if we are baptised into The Lord Jesus.
So, our ancestry from Adam is sin and death or we can choose to be adopted sons and daughters of God through the Lord Jesus Christ and inherit eternal life. ‘Heirs of salvation.’
