The last fortnight has seen enormous changes here in the United Kingdom, with a new Prime Minister, the death of Queen Elizabeth ll the longest reigning monarch and the proclamation of the new King – King Charles lll, proving that the only constant in life is change.
Prime Ministers come and go at the will and whim of the people, and even though the Queen reigned for 70 years, it was inevitable that it would end in death. We now have an elderly King, who has been preparing for this role for many years, but who knows how long his reign will last. Laws will be passed that many will object to, and election promises and pledges will be broken whichever political party is in power at the time, each one thinking that they will do better than the last. The country’s problems are never ending and will never be completely solved.
The above concerns the UK, but every country in the world will recognise and suffer from these problems [and in some cases even worse problems], in one way or another.
It is really obvious that what the whole world needs is one world ruler who will rule justly, fairly and forever, so that peace will envelop the earth. The Bible reassures us that this IS going to happen when the Lord Jesus Christ, the immortal King, will return to establish His everlasting Kingdom on this earth, when ALL problems will be solved with no more sorrowing, suffering, poverty, hunger or death, and even the earth itself will no longer be cursed.
The whole of Psalm 72 tells us of this wonderful time and is really worth reading in full, but here are three verses for you to think about:
v.2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment
v.7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth
v.17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.
